2 wounded in shooting near Newark police headquarters

Two people were hospitalized in stable condition early Friday after they were shot near Newark’s Fifth Precinct police station.
Newark officers were called about 12:30 a.m. to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Clinton Avenue, near police headquarters in the Donald M. Payne, Sr. Public Safety Complex.
Arriving officers found one man who had been shot. The victim was take to University Hospital in Newark, according to city Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé.
A second gunshot victim arrived at the hospital around the same time, Fragé said.
No arrests have been made and information about the victims was not available early Friday.
